Certified professional training in System Constellations
The Hellinger Institute of Norway offers an innovative training in System Constellations and in Systemic Phenomenological Counselling, in cooperaton with The European Academy for System Constellation (eurasys). Its coverage and structure meets high professional standards and has, at the same time, a phenomenological-spiritual orientation. The training is addressed to people who have already gained basic experiences in Family Constellations (e. g. completed a continuing training or visited many courses) and want to execute the constellation work as professionals.
The attendants learn - apart from the work in the usual constellational setting - in specific practice-oriented projects guided by an experienced constellator. They are led, step by step, to their own professional practice, can exchange their practical experiences already gained and improve them under professional guidance.
Coverage and organisational concerns
The training is designed to be extra-occupational and takes place in en-bloc-seminars of 5 days (Friday 10am - Tuesday 3pm). A training year comprises 25 course days of 8 hours per day, the work on the respective project, free learning in exercise groups, sitting in at open constellation courses and writing term papers. The location of the training is Oslo, Norway.
Admission
General requirement for the access to the training is the certification of a minimum 25-days continuing training in System Constellations with one certified constellator listed in the directory of the DGfS (Deutsche Gesellschaft für Systemaufstellungen - German Society for System Constellations). In individual cases eurasys can abandon this requirement if the applicant commits himself to attend parallely or before the start of the training the corresponding number of seminars led by one of the eurasys trainers.
Programme
The study comprises the following elements:
- Self-awareness
- Theory and Methodology
- Practice
Self-awareness
includes realising the own social ties, entanglements and mental processes, one’s own role in the counselling work with clients and the repercussions on oneself as well as experiencing and strengthening the mental-spiritual growth potential.
Theory
includes rethinking the alive experience, its allocation to theoretical concepts, discussion of the central concepts and the general insights of the constellation work as well as relating of the individual experience and the individual consideration to these insights.
Methodology
comprises teaching of more general therapeutic-counselling techniques of the work with groups and of individual counselling, of the specific tools of the constellation work as well as of the attitude to take towards the client and the issue.
Practice
includes applying what has been learned in real practical contexts - not just “exercising“ constellations but real counselling and constellation work in projects under the supervision of the trainers.
Main course
The main course requires basic knowledge of the constellation work (orders in family systems, methodology of family constellations). These fundaments are resumed once again in the first two seminars, updated and related to the comprehensive topics, general concepts as well as to the methodological and philosophical issues.
In the following seminars of the main course, the fundaments of knowledge for the work in projects are laid and the projects are prepared. Parallely, the work focuses on the personal issues coming up in the context of the professional topics so that imparting of knowledge and self-awareness intertwine.
Project study
At the end of the 1st year the project study starts. It is considered as learning through observing a real object and exercising the practical application of the constellation work, the systemic knowledge and the holistic-phenomenological attitude and point of view. So, at the same time, new insights into the application of the constellation work in different practice domains can be gained as well as possible new fields of work opened up. In this way, the training also prepares for a future activity not exclusiveley consisting of guiding free constellation groups.
In the project study the trainees chose a project within a field of practice which they are interested in and which they accompany one year (as a kind of traineeship). Trainees working on projects of the same subject area regularly exchange their views.
During the modules, there are continuous reports on the projects as well as supervised constellations and explanations on the project process. Apart from the learning from his own main topic, one witnesses what the others do and does not become too unilaterally specialised. The constellations are guided above all by other trainees (under supervision).
Project areas
Project areas are e. g.:
- ADHD,Dyslecsia,Stemming ..
- Transgenerational traumas in general

Reports on the projects are prepared serving as final paper.
Some of the reports have been published in a booklet and is for sale at The Hellinger Institute of Norway.
Final examinations and Diploma
Furthermore, the project study requires each student to design a conception for his project, to provide the canvassing, to accompany the project as a counsellor, to report on it during the course and to provide a documentation of the whole process.
The training ends with a term paper on a subject chosen by the student himself (e. g. a project report) or with a corresponding video documentation and a colloquium. By doing so, the examinee shall demonstrate that he has understood the essential processes of the constellation work and the systemic orders becoming manifest therein and that he/she is able to express them in written and oral form. After having passed the examination, the attendant receives a diploma from the Hellinger Institute of Norway certifying him/her as a thoroughly trained System Constellator.
The Hellinger Diploma is the basis of longer-term efforts to establish the constellation work as a societally accepted counselling method and to integrate it into the academic course of studies (Master Degree). The modules are designed in such a way that they meet the corresponding requirements.
Rules and Exceptions.
All rules have exceptions, and we rather emphasise on following the flow of energy than keeping to a conception agreed on in the past. So we expect openness and flexibility.
